Youngin's....

I volunteered to be a chaperone for my daughter's class field trip to Furman University to see the play "Junie B. Jones," based on the children's book. These kids stole my heart from the moment we got on the bus! Once they found out I had my camera, they couldn't wait to have their picture taken. I loved their free-spirited nature, and I had so much fun, I just might do it again sometime! Here's a few of the images.

Jones Gap State Park

Since it's October and the leaves are starting to turn a little, I knew I didn't want to miss out on getting great shots of the changing season around us. David & I have decided on days that he's off work, we're going to travel to a new local areas to capture the essence Fall. Thursday, the choice was Jone Gap State Park. I had never been, but heard about the great shot you could get of the waterfall. We took the mile trail up, and to our surprise, the bridge was out due to a landslide! However, the trip wasn't a complete waste- here's a sample of the beautiful sights we encountered!

Georgia on My Mind...

Wow, I must brag about my Sunday afternoon with Miss Georgia. We met at Furman for her bridal portraits, and I must say she is one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen, let alone photographed! We started out at the Alumni House and worked our way down campus. Although the sunset caused us to miss out on a few shots, what we were able to get sure made up for it! I am SO looking forward to her Autumn wedding in the next few weeks! Here's a sneek peek!

Time flies...

Wow- time has truly gotten away from me. I got so busy with the last few minute details of my wedding, among other things, I haven't had much time until now, to write any news in my blog. I'll try to briefly update you! I'm MARRIED! Our wedding went wonderfully. It was beautiful, simple, and romantic. Everything we could have asked for, and more. We were married on the beach, at sunset, on July 22, 2006 in Coccoa Beach, FL. We then spent a few nights in Orlando as well as a few nights on a cruise to the Bahamas. We swam with dolphins and fed the stingrays- we had an awesome time. When we returned, we hosting a luau reception at our home for our closest friends and family to attend. My daughter started back to school the following week, so I had to get everything ready for that... I've kind of taken a break from my photography for a while, as strange as that seems, actually saying it. I'm not necessarily going to stop doing it all together, i actually think I'm going to venture back into candid children and family portraiture, and scenics again, on top of weddings. In the meantime, should any of you have any questions in regards to portraits or viewing some of my scenic prints, feel free to contact me. Meanwhile, on to some of our wedding pictures:

Happy 4th!

Well, by the looks of the clock right now, it's no longer the 4th of July, but I still want to wish everyone a safe and happy one! We had lots of fun shooting fireworks and eating Mountville Fire Department Hash (a McMahan tradition)! Meanwhile, I've been busy stuffing and addressing envelopes for our wedding announcement/at-home-reception. I can't wait! Only 2 1/2 more weeks and then we're off to our "WeddingMoon"! Thanks to all of you brides who have booked your weddings with us from Wedding Festivals for the remainder or this year as well as next year! I'm truly looking forward to capturing every aspect of your special day! For those of you who have been inquiring about your dates, you may want to check back- your date may not be available! And as always, if you have ANY questions or ideas about packages or pricing, please don't hesitate to contact me, via phone, email, or IM.

Happy Birthday to Me

Well, even though I may be one day late, my birthday was yesterday. Not too bad, I must say. I had some errands to run the first half of the morning, but later on I got to relax. David had to work, but we have plans to celebrate this weekend. Meanwhile, I had time to play around on my new laptop and work on some much needed projects..such as Gina's wedding. Wow. I've never met a bride quite like her. She's so outgoing and so amazingly hilarious (as well as her friends and family). I truly had an awesome time. They should still be on their honeymoon, but I'm sure they'll be glad to see their proofs when they get back. Meanwhile, I'll give the rest of you a sample.

Changed My Mind

OK, OK, OK, so it's been about 5 minutes since my last post, and I decided I can't wait to show you a teeny tiny sample of the amazing work my sister did on my bridals. She also went ahead and took mine & David's portraits together as well (yes, he saw me in my dress- AHHH! Just kidding, we don't care too much about superstitions). I'll post the "couple" pics later. Meanwhile, enjoy!

Checking In

Just wanted to peep my head out of my workload to say hi to those of you out there who are following me. I'm deep into editing at this point, also getting finishing touches ready for the show next week. I can't wait to meet you new brides out there! Meanwhile, I just got back from vacation in North Myrtle Beach/ Cherry Grove. We went to visit my sister and her family. I lent her my camera again and she took my bridal portraits. She did a fantastic job- I told her she needs to make photography a more serious part of her life- she could do very well with it! I will post a few in the next post. Right now, I'll post a few of my faves from my bridal shoot with Gina from last weekend. Gina's a really awesome chick. We met up at Falls Park in downtown Greenville, one of my favorite spots in the state. Gina was armed and ready with her mom and all of her friends to lend a hand. We had a great time and Gina really let loose! I love it when I come accross a bride who isn't afraid to get a little dirt on her dress to get the right picture! Thanks to Gina, and I hope you and your family enjoy viewing the proofs! One week left until your big day!

Getting Excited

I'm really excited about this coming week. This weekend, I've got a bridal shoot with Gina at my favorite spot in the upstate- (I'll post a few images when I get back). I'll also be leaving Sunday to go to the beach to visit my sister and family, and also to have MY bridal portraits done! I am so thrilled! I just give a quick rundown of my camera to my sister and she'll take them for me - she does a great job- she did my engagement pictures of David and I (posted below). I can not wait to see how my bridal shots turn out- I'll be sure to post them! In the meantime, I'm getting things ready for the upcoming Wedding Festivals show... things seem to be going well. I'm excited to showcase my portfolio in different ways than before, and to meet you fellow new brides out there! Now, I figured I should tell you a little about David and I. We actually met online (it really CAN happen!). I knew he was THE ONE on our first date. He was just literally the nicest man I had ever met.. we were inseperable ever since then! We got engaged a week before our 6 month anniversary, and have been counting the days until our big day! We have decided to run off to Florida by ourselves to get married on the beach. It's so much more intimate and special to us, and we can have a big at-home-reception when we get back from our honeymoon! I'm posting a few of our engagement pictures below. ****So excited!****

Lots on My Plate

Wow... it's the last day of Memorial Day Weekend, and I have so much to do! Today, I'm packing up some more stuff to move to my fiance's house. I just want to get it out of the way right now, so I don't have to worry about it later, especially in the middle of "wedding summer". On top of that, I've decided to exhibit again in the Wedding Festivals Show, up and coming on Friday, June 16th. I have a lot to get done before then- it's only about 3 weeks away! I want to go ahead and let you all know of my promotion I'll be having, starting the week of the show. If you book me as your photographer before June 30, I'll knock $100 off the total package price. This offer is also combinable with my previous referral offer- Imagine the great deal you would get! This show should prove to be bigger and better than last year's September show I was a part of. I'll have more information concerning it posted soon. I'm very excited about it, and I can't wait to meet all of the new Brides out there!

Under the Weather, But Still Happy!

I've been feeling a little under the weather the past few days. On top of that, I've been staying busy with a lot on my plate... this new website launch, online proofing for my recent brides, and much more! But I can't let a little sickness keep me down. Above all that, I'm really excited about a few things! My daughter, Taelor, finished her last day of kindergarten today. She's growing up so fast! She'll only have a short summer to play and then back to school for 1st grade in the fall! Ahhhh! She and I both have a lot to be happy about, because I'm gaining a husband and she's gaining a father in July! I forgot to mention I'm getting married- and it's less than 2 months away! I can't believe it! I'll post some pictures of them both, and I'll be sure to give you a rundown of how we met, about our upcoming wedding, and all that good, mushy stuff in the next few days. Meanwhile, I think I need to catch a few extra ZZZZ's.

Up and Running

Wow! Talk about exciting! My new website is up and running 2 whole days sooner than I expected! I'm really impressed the with professional layout, and I hope my prospective clients will be too. I'm considering different price options (again) for my wedding packages. I may still have my current default package prices, and add a la carte items to allow both flexibility and easy options for clients. If you are a bride and have any comments on this topic, please let me know your thoughts by emailing me: amy@amysphotographix.com. I'm also pleased to offer special savings to my current brides and any brides they send my way. If you refer a bride to me who books me for their wedding, I will give YOU a $25 print credit, and HER 15% off her total wedding package price.

New Beginnings

I'm ending the chapter of my life known as "the bad website days". I've cheated on my current hosting server and have been creating an entirely new website behind it's back. This new site is going to be so much better than my current one. Only two more days and I can break the news to my current host. Then, I can sit back and relax, and watch business get bigger and better, instead of worrying how many people are being turned away by a bad layout and unflattering navigation links. Oh yeah, and I have this new blogger also. I'm new to this, but I think it will work fine for me, and keep me busy when I have all that extra free time.
